Joint Practices

This was my first term at Rycotewood. We began by practicing different types of joints, such as, Dovetails, Half Lapped Dovetails and Blind Dovetails.

Dovetail Box - Unit 102

This box is made from Cherry, with an Oak and Maple inlay. The base has a plinth chamfered by hand and the handle is made from Dark and Light Oak. It is finished in a wax blend.

Cabinet Project - Unit 205 & 206

This was the first 'big' project that I have worked on whilst at Rycote.
The cabinet is made from Ash with veneered inlays and willow handles.

I enjoyed making this, however there are certain aspects that I would like to improve on if I could do it again. I did enjoy the veneering process as well as marking and cutting the joints!
